Monthly Maintenance

Why do you need site maintenance?

Unlike a static website that you ‘set and forget,’ your website is a valuable marketing tool that will require care and feeding to keep it doing its best work for you on the Internet. WordPress and the Thesis theme are constantly being updated and improved, as are little mini programs, called plugins, that are incorporated into your site to give it maximum functionality. When these software pieces are updated, your site needs to be upgraded, too, so that it continues to take advantage of the best technology available. The speed, security, and functionality of your website are crucial factors to Google and can affect your organic rankings.

You can do it yourself however…

Updating the plugins is not all that hard to do. But knowing which plugins can be updated and troubleshooting issues post update can be very tricky. WordPress is constantly updating its code to meet new security and web development standards. These things affect how Google sees your site. The plugins that are used along with WordPress must also update their code to meet the new standards and the new WordPress version. If a plugin has not passed the compatibility testing for a new WordPress version, it may not work at all if upgraded and could, “break” the entire site.
